The Calm Before the Storm

Happy Monday!! There are only 4 preparation days before Grove season! We have been busy bees at the "White House" this past week and weekend getting ready for this Saturday. Oh, because of the title you think we're relaxing?? No, no, no the off-season ended July 31st; beginning August 1st much thought goes into preparing and planning and more planning. . .

First, we had to empty the "Grove Closet" meaning we had to pull out everything that we used last year and decide what's getting replaced, repaired or removed. We really made a mess, but it is a necessary evil. After the not-so-fun work, we begin on the updates and additions, and this year there will be a lot. I wont tell you everything today but I'll give you a sneak peak of one of the projects I hope to finish this week:

When this and my other projects are done, be ready to be amazed--Pinterest will have nothing on me. We'll be the only tent in the Grove with these little tid-bits. :o)

There is much more to talk about, but I have to go prepare for my Fantasy Football draft tonight!

Back to the title "The Calm Before the Storm," as we all know there is the threat of severe weather, Hurricane Issac, hitting the South which translates to a soggy first game. First and foremost, I hope that everyone is careful and safe both on the coast and inland. Once everyone is A-Okay, I hope we don't have rain on Saturday. It can come before, I just need the Grove to be mostly dry on Saturday. Don't worry, we'll battle whatever conditions will come--it's just easier on a dry day.

The Grove

The Grove is the primary location on the Ole Miss campus where tailgating occurs. Charlie and I have a lot of fun tailgating before home games. We have an impressive set up. There will be many pictures and details about our tailgating abode in future posts.

Mainly for those that have never tailgated in the Grove, below are two videos to help you get the feel of its awesomeness:

1. This video is a great example of the Ole Miss game day experience.

2. This is a time lapse of people setting up tents, enjoying the day and everything coming down. I chose this video because the "double-red tent" in the front just left of center is OUR TENT!!

ARE YOU READY ?!?!?!?!

Hell Yes, Dam Right.

OLE MISS BY DAM

If you didn't know, this is the battle cry for the Ole Miss Rebels. During any given football season, I scream these words along with thousands of others easily fifty plus times--and that's just on the 6-7 home football games. These words are a call to fight, a call of strength, and a call for hope that Ole Miss, regardless of the critics and "Debbie-Downers" will continue to play the best game of football that they can play.

My husband, Charlie, and I LOVE Ole Miss, specifically Ole Miss football. We met at the end of the '03 season, Eli's last season--a fantastic season if I might add, and we quickly realized that we were a match made in football heaven.  Since the '04 season, Charlie and I have attended all but one home Ole Miss football game together. What would keep us from a home game you ask? the wedding of our dear friends (we still love you Pete and Ashton)! We attend practically all home games, and in the past at least two away games. But now the 2012 season . . .

This year Charlie  and I are taking what we call "Our Rebel Road Trip," that is we are going to all twelve football games this season!! This has been a goal of ours since we met, and we are so excited to actually be doing it. This blog is intended to be a virtual journal/scrapbook for us to use to reflect on in the future. I hope you enjoy it, and HOTTY TODDY!!!
